The current methods of treatments are primarily medical, while effective and safe treatments which accord with cultural and religious beliefs appear to have higher performance.
Aim: survey the effect of Quran on the anxiety of patients with MI admitted to CCU.
Methods: The present clinical-trial study was performed by randomized block design on 68 patients with MI which were assigned into two groups: experimental (33) and control (35). The experimental group listened to Quran twice daily for two days. Control group received no intervention. At baseline and in the end of each study, anxiety level of both groups was measured. Data were collected by reliable and valid Spielberger anxiety questionnaire and analyzed using chi-square, independent t-test, Repeated Measures and analysis of covariance.
Results: Groups were significantly different regarding familiarity with quran (p=0.003) and insurance status (p=0.005), whereas other background factors were similar between two groups. At baseline, the mean anxiety in both groups was not significantly different. In terms of anxiety, a statistical difference was observed between groups after intervention in all four occasions (first occasion: experimental 31.9±7.1, control 40.8±13.2, second occasion: experimental 29.7±7.3, control 40.6±13.5, third occasion: experimental 28.8±6.9, control 39.5±13.9, and forth occasion: experimental 28.3±7.5, control 38.7±13.9) (P<0.05). In the experimental group, a statistically significant reduction was reported in level of anxiety over time (p=0.000); whereas this reduction wasn not significant in control group.
Conclusion: The level of anxiety in paitents with myocardial infarction could be decresed by listening to Quran. Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of eight weeks of interval training with continuous training on changes in HRR and lipid profile in cardiac patients post-coronary artery bypass graft.
Methods: In this clinical study, 30 cardiac patients of Tehran Heart Centerthat hadundergone CABG surgery were randomly divided into two groups, interval and continuous training. The protocols included 4rep × 4 min at 90-95% for interval group, and 60-80 minutes at 70-85% peak HR for continuous group. HRmax, HRR at 1, 2 and 3 min following Bruce test was assessed before and after the training program. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16 and ANOVA test (p<0.05).
Results: HRR at 1 & 2 minute was reduced more in both interval and continuous groups than that of before the training program (p<0.05). The HHR reduction at 1&2 minutes was more significant in the interval group than the continuous group after exercise stress test (p<0.05). The changes in HRR at 3 min in both groups were not significant compared to that of before the training program (p=0.1).
Conclusion: Both high-intensity interval training and moderate-intensity continuous training improve HRR and lipid profile in cardiac patients after coronary artery bypass. Interval training is more effective on HHR reduction than continuous training.

Phlebitis is the most common complication and one of the therapeutic aims is to prevent it.
Aim: The aim of this study was to compair the effect of Clobetasol with Nitroglycerin ointment on the prevention of superficial IV Catheter induced phlebitis.
Methods: This clinical trial study was conducted on 144 patients admitted in men surgery ward in Arak Valiasr hospital in 1392. Patients were randomly allocated into three groups: Group A (Clobetasol), Group B (NTG) and Group C (Control). Severity of phlebitis was measured using the standard visual rating scale. In intervention groups, after venipuncture, ointment were administered on the distal portion of IVcatheter and the area was dressed. The venipuncture area was assessed 24, 48 and 72 (hrs) after venipuncture. Data were analyzed by chi-square, Fisher's exact and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests and using spss19.
Results: There was no significant difference among three groups in terms of severity of catheter induced phlebitis in the first and second measurements. In the third measurement there was a significant difference among intervention and control groups (P < 0/007) and the severity of catheter induced phlebitis was reduced more in NTG group comparing Clobetasol group.
Conclusion: The use of Nitroglycerin in prevention of superficial, IVcatheter induced phlebitis is more effective than Clobetasol. It is suggested that Nitroglycerin can be administered to prevent phlebitis in patients who need to have IVcatheter for a long time (over 48 hours).Mashhad University of Medical SciencesEvidence Based Care2008-24874120140401Pyogenic Liver Abscess as a Fatal Complication of Colonoscopy: a case reportآبسه چرکی کبدی عارضه کشنده کولونوسکپی: یک مطالعه موردی8186227010.22038/ebcj.2014.2270ENMohammad Reza SheikhianAssistant Professor of Gastroentrologists, School of Medicine, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, IranMahmoud Reza Mohajer KoohestaniAsistant of Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, IranRobabeh ParhiziNurse, department of endoscopy, Imam Reza Hospital, School of Medicine, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, IranJournal Article20130629Background: Colonoscopy is a safe and routinely-performed diagnostic and screening procedure for different colorectal diseases. The diagnostic and screening colonoscopy for is different for colon diseases. In order for colonoscopy, colon cleansing is required to prepare a detailed view into the intestinal lumen.
Aim: This is a case report study of a patient with multiple pyogenic liver abscesses following colonoscopy (unprep).
Methods: After studying hospital records of patient in GI section of Imam Reza Hospital and searching the websites, pubmed, Scopus, and Medline, we found no earlier reports of liver abscess after colonoscopy.
Results: A diabetic patient suffered from fever, abdominal pain and drowsiness following unprepared full colonoscopy with biopsy. In laboratory tests leukocytosis with a shift to left and coagulopathy were reported. CT scan showed multiple pyogenic liver abscesses.
The patient received broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics and hydration, but after 96 hours, the patient did not respond to supportive treatment and died due to septic shock. Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus was reported in blood culture.
Conclusion: Although colonoscopy is a convenient and relatively safe diagnostic procedure, doctors should always consider rare complications of colonoscopy, especially in patients with risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, immunodeficiency and malignancies of the liver and liver transplantation. In addition, complete colonoscopy and other diagnostic procedures such as biopsy or polypectomy in patients with inadequate bowel preparation for colonoscopy should be avoided.
